UPDATE: Em Ward, a long-time Green, applied to fill the vacant state senate seat. She has a long history of peace and environmental activism. Her background in both medicine and engineering gives her a rare combination of skills and will make her an effective advocate for her district. She will be guided by the Four Pillars (Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice, Peace/Non-violence, and Grassroots Democracy) and will not be indebted to party bosses and corporate donors. The resignation of Jacob Candelaria from his state senate seat leaves a vacancy that the Bernalillo County Commission will fill at their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 15. The smaller party and independent candidates often are intentionally denied coverage and opportunities to alert voters to other options and introduce ideas. This frequently occurs when commercial media produce debates. Scattered across the country, however, are opportunities for Green Party candidates–next week, the Green candidate is included in a televised congressional debate in Connecticut.
Sometimes, we create our own media and share it as widely as we can. One of the headline candidates for Greens in 2022 is Matt Hoh, running for U. S. Senate from North Carolina. He has a series of video chats with notable figures, e. g., Margaret Kimberley and Chris Hedges, including tonight’s chat with Jill Stein. You can find other videos on his youtube channel.

Allen Cooper, a well-known social justice activist, passed away earlier this month. Allen was the Green Party candidate for State House of Representatives in 2000 for District 12 in Albu(r)querque and received 8% of the vote. For a long time, Allen was the guy with the megaphone at many a peace action. A public memorial will take place on September 24, from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at the ABQ Center for Peace and Justice. Rest well.
The Green Party is on the ballot in Pennsylvania and North Carolina for 2022. These are important victories especially after the shenanigans in New York that appear to be keeping minor and alternative parties off the ballot unless they are fusion parties for the Democrats and Republicans. Voters want meaningful choices.
