The UNM student encampment reports that the Pres wants to remove them by 5 PM today (May 14, 2024) and that they need everybody out there to support them. It would be really helpful if you could go to the duck pond ASAP!
Tom Wakely, Green Party candidate for U. S. Senate, stopped by the UNM encampment to stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza, support those demanding an end to genocide, reminisce about his days of active protest against South African apartheid, and let people know that he is trying to get on the ballot. Your help is needed! If you are a registered voter in New Mexico, please sign his electronic petition. Select position: United States Senate, party: Green, or candidate: Thomas John Wakely. On Earth Day 2024, students committed to stopping the genocide in Gaza and keeping a planet to inhabit encamped near the duck pond on UNM’s Main Campus. Generations of activists were present, including those who could speak to campus protests against the wars in Viet Nam and destructive capabilities of the war machine on populations and the earth itself. UNM students join other students on campuses across the country in calling for universities to divest from companies profiting from weapons sales to Israel. GPAMA represented and reminded attendees of the National Guard attacks on peaceful protesters in 1970 at UNM. Fifty-four years later, we are on the cusp of another defining moment for a generation of young people. May the powers that be choose peace and humanity over profits and political power. CEASEFIRE NOW!

GPAMA will walk in solidarity.
