ABQ/BernCo Clean Car Rules

The Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Air Quality Control Board and the New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board will consider amending regulations that would implement California’s latest motor vehicle emission standards beginning with the model year 2027. In-person hearing is November 13-16, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p. m. in the Bigbee Auditorium, State Bar Center, 5121 Masthead St NE, Albuquerque.

For the November 13-16, 2023 hearing, public comment will be available on:

  • November 13, 2023 at 12:00 pm and at 5:00 pm for 1 hour each
  • November 14, 2023 at 9:00 am and at 1:00 pm for 1 hour each

The proposed regulatory change would amend existing rule 20.11.104 NMAC, New Motor Vehicle Emission Standards, to adopt California’s current low- and zero-emission vehicle standards for new 2027-2032 model year light- and medium-duty vehicles, and to adopt California’s emission standards and reporting requirements for new 2027-2035 model year heavy-duty vehicles.
